Greenbank School

Years 1 & 2

Infant Department

In Years 1 & 2, children begin to establish their confidence in a classroom environment through continued exposure to the foundations of reading, writing and mathematics set within a broad curriculum including Science, History, Geography, Art, RE, PSHCE, Music, French, PE, Games and Computing.

Our fundamental values of politeness, respect and self-expression underlie all aspects of the children’s development. As the children progress the teaching team works in close partnership with parents to allow each young mind to blossom.

Each of our Infant classes has a dedicated full time teaching assistant, who, along with our learning support teacher, supports the teacher in delivering a curriculum which meets the needs of each individual child. Our programmes of study, many taught by subject specialists from across the school, are designed to engage, enthuse, excite and challenge the developing child.

Children in our Infant department are also given the opportunity to take part in extra-curricular clubs such as art, fun with food, soccer, gymnastics, choir and speech.
