Visitors & Events

Residential Trips, School Visits and Visitors

At Greenbank we firmly believe in enriching pupils’ learning outside the confines of the classroom environment. To this end, we arrange an exciting and wide-ranging series of trips, visits and outside speakers. Over the past year these have included:

  • Workshop with visiting author, David Horner
  • Sci-Tech science day in school for all the children
  • Visitors (often family and friends) speaking to the children on a variety of subjects such as their experiences during WWII, the work of a dentist and Asian food
  • Theatre trips include the Pantomime and Shakespeare4Kidz performances
  • Museum visits to the Imperial Museum North, the Museum of Science and Industry, the Manchester Museum, the Hat Museum and Catalyst
  • Field trips to support work in Science and the Humanities including Chester Zoo, Quarry Bank Mill, Roman Chester, Bramall Hall, Stanton in Peak, Wigan Pier, Blue Planet Aquarium, The Chestnut Centre, Stockley Farm and the local park
  • Year 5 annual residential holiday to Manor Adventure in Shropshire, where the pupils spend 5 days participating in over 20 different activities which promote team building and bonding as well as providing confidence building experiences

As a final treat for all their hard work, the Year 6 pupils travel to northern France to the Chateau du Broutel (owned by Manor Adventure). Here they have the opportunity to use their language skills, experience the culture as well as taking advantage of the beautiful lakeside setting of the Chateau for watersports and other activities. During the week they visit a chocolate factory, a goat farm and a local market.
